Hi, I’m Makayla!
I’m 22 years old, living in “Happy Valley,” Utah and I love the idea of personal and professional development. I love swimming, reading, eating (!), watching Netflix, and checking items off my To-Do list. But what I love the most is development (and my husband, Nick!).
Why I started Hello, Professional Girl!
I landed a job that I was extremely excited for — but absolutely terrified at the same time. After that, I found myself looking for motivational and inspirational articles and blogs to boost my confidence, and found some really amazing resources. I wanted to have a place to document what I found, and learn from other young professionals starting out on their own career paths.
Like many young people, I honestly feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. Failure is always a possibility, and change seems to be the only constant for me. However, I’m determined to keep getting better every day and develop as a professional and a person.
The best way I’ve found to do that is to listen to podcasts and read books. This year I’ve laid out a list of 12 books I’d like to read: 2018 Professional and Personal Development Book List. I plan to write a post about them each month when they’re finished. Please, join me!
- Graduated from Brigham Young University in 2016 with a degree Human Development. I’m currently in my last semester of my Master’s Degree at the University of Utah, studying Gerontology.
- Wife of a BYU law student… He’s half way through!
- Full time job in the city, working for a global investment banking company.
I would absolutely love to hear from you. I’m just starting out, and this blog is just as much a resource for you as it is for me. Let me know what you want to hear more of (or less of), and if you want to team up.
